A question for the admins, has any progress been made on restoring the original site? is it looking impossible or just time consuming?
In the last update they gave, it appeared as though they had given up on trying to restore the old site and instead were pursuing the alternative of selling off the data to new ownership. But that might prove difficult as well, since I’m not sure how many potential buyers they’ll be able to reach.
In the event that they can’t manage to sell the site, I hope that they will resume efforts to bring it back on their own, even if they have to look for the cheapest and most efficient way to do so (perhaps with AI?).
How much do you even think the data is actually worth? I wish they would just open source it.
Regardless of what they think the data are worth (and how they estimate that), I guess they at least would like their investment back. And if the data would be open source, we would still need someone who can process the data and incorporate them in a new website. I do hope something like the old Mister Poll comes back, though.
I have fear we should get used to the fact that it is over
I’m afraid that you are right, but we should not just give up. I loved the old site for the genuinely unique and mesmerizing content I could read there. If the mainstream sites with modern sensibilities, such as D, are unfriendly to that sort of posts, we should look for an alternative.
If we’re looking for an alternative, Voy Forums seems to allow pretty much everything
hang in there folks we are working on a solution. appreciate your thoughts and concerns. this thing is a bit like wrestling a tiger!
Thanks for the update! I’m sure that those of us who have been waiting will be fine if it takes a while longer before we can get a good result. Hope everything goes well on your end, Admins.
That could indeed be a good alternative. It’s always possible to ask a whole bunch of questions in a single post. But I’ll wait a bit longer to see what solution Mr. Poll site staff come up with.
I really hope so guys it’s nearly been a year at this point since we’ve had access to the original site.
